Saturday Snapshot

Saturday Snapshot is hosted by Alyce of At Home With Books.  It’s easy to participate – just post a picture that was taken by you, a friend, or a family member and add your link on Alyce’s site.   Photos can be old or new, and be of any subject as long as they are clean and appropriate for all eyes to see. How much detail you give in the caption is entirely up to you. Please don’t post random photos that you find online.

My little one goes to year-round school, so we have the last two weeks ahead of us, and we are crazy busy!  We’ve been running around trying to remember everything we have to get done.  We’ve got dress rehearsals and dance recital, choir performance at a baseball game, talent show, art classes, volunteer work and we are redecorating her room.  I’m suddenly very tired.  With all the hustle and bustle in the house – one member of our family is completely unphased.

Sabertooth.

We have a drive-thru safari in a neighboring town, and I love to take my little one there during school breaks.  She goes to a year-round school, so she has breaks at different times than most schools, the upside is we get to go do things when it’s not very crowded.

Sweet lil’ baby!

Nosy bird!

Hungry deer

Feeding a white deer

Again with the nosy bird

Texas Longhorns

This picture makes me smile – my great aunt petting the camel.  We had a great day!

Aw!  He let me hug him!

My little one had the best time – she got to pet huge camels, feed ostrich (ostriches?), deer, buffalo and camels.

Honey Badger Don’t Care

“Honey Badger Don’t Care: Randall’s Guide to Crazy, Nastyass Animals”

by Randall

Andrews McMeel Publishing, LLC

82 Pages

This book is HILARIOUS!  I wasn’t prepared for how funny this was going to be.  As usual I was going to read “just a few pages” before going to bed, and then I find myself on the couch laughing out loud to an empty room while everyone else is trying to sleep.  It actually is an informative book about different animals, but its told in such a funny sarcastic tone that you don’t even realize you’re learning while you read.

Did you know that the Honey Badger has no known enemies?  Or that the Aye-Aye looks like Don Knotts?  Or that when Tasmanian Devils feel threatened they fart?  (I didn’t know that either!)  I also didn’t know that the Emporer Tamarin lives for up to 17 years!  I also learned that Sloths are born upside down and spend 9-10 hours a day sleeping upside down!

Table of Contents:

  • The Honey Badger
  • The Aye-Aye
  • The Tasmanian Devil
  • The Emporer Tamarin
  • The Pink Fairy Armadillo
  • The Tarsier
  • The Opossum
  • The Solenodon
  • The Wombat
  • The American Bullfrog
  • The Sloth

I think you’ll laugh while you learn at this fun little book!
